Tensioned Fabric Screening

Our client on Phuket’s east coast is in the final stages of building his new house overlooking Phang Nga Bay. Since we’d designed and build several tensioned fabric shade products at his previous house he asked us for a solution to provide shade over a car park area, and at the same time asked if we knew of a way to beautify several areas around the buildings where water tanks and air-conditioning units have been installed. We had a ready solution – tensioned fabric screening, using architectural grade PVC-coated polyester, a solution we call “building wrap”.

Necessary evils like these air-conditioning units can be rendered less of an eyesore with tensioned fabric screens.

We designed, built and installed the required steel framework to take the screens, then installed the fabric on site using purpose designed aluminium fabric tensioning/fixing profile from Profil Tension Systems. For this job we chose Serge Ferrari Soltis 86 Precontraint mesh, a fabric with the correct amount of “openness” for the job, non-stretch characteristics, longevity, and importantly for the client, comes in a great range of colours. See for yourself the great result, and imagine the possibilities of “building wrap” for your own projects!

These before and after images show the visual transformation possible with the installation of tensioned mesh screen – “building wrap” #gallery-10 { margin: auto; } #gallery-10 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 50%; } #gallery-10 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-10 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */

Our client was able to choose a colour to match his outdoor décor from Serge Ferrari’s large colour range.

It is important to us that our clients can “see” their product before they decide to buy it.

We combined the same building wrap solution and a tensioned fabric shade sail at the client’s garage to conceal several large water storage tanks and provide some shade over a car park area. The shade sail uses Alnet Extrablock HDPE shade cloth in colour “latte”. Like the building wrap frames, the shade sail’s columns are mild steel finished with International Paints 5-coat marine grade epoxy paint system.

This design rendered image (left) shows our proposed solutions for carpark shade and concealing a set of water tanks, with the real outcome shown on the right. #gallery-11 { margin: auto; } #gallery-11 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 50%; } #gallery-11 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-11 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
