A Walkway For 70 Newborn Cambodian Kids Per Day!

Shades was honoured and delighted to help with the upgrade of the Jayavarman Hospital in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Jayavarman is one of 5 hospitals run by the Kantha Bopha Foundation, at which more than half a million Cambodian kids are treated every year absolutely free, thanks to the wonderful work of the founder Swiss pediatrician Dr Beat Richner, his Cambodian staff and the supporters of the foundation. Our task was to build a fabric covered walkway between wards (see pix) with the help of our Cambodian partner Europ Continents.

Our job – cover this walkway, along which 70 newborn babies will travel every single day!

The frame and fabric were designed and fabricated in the Shades factory in Phuket, Thailand, from measurements supplied from the site. We “pre-install” jobs like this at Phuket to make sure everything fits, give the frame its 5-coat marine grade epoxy finish, then carefully wrap and pack frame, fabric and rigging for shipment to Cambodia by truck, ship and then truck again. #gallery-7 { margin: auto; } #gallery-7 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 50%; } #gallery-7 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-7 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
